CHUREN
Singaporean pianist Churen Li seeks innovative and personal approaches to concert programming, combining diverse genres with improvisatory and experimental practices. The 2021 season included debuts at the Singapore International Piano Festival and Singapore International Festival of Arts, as well as more than 80 solo concerts with the Candlelight series that featured an eclectic repertoire from Chopin and Debussy, to Michael Jackson, John Williams, and George Crumb. In July 2022/23, she opened the Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s 2022/23 season with Grieg’s Piano Concerto conducted by Han-Na Chang.
Yamaha & Bösendorfer Artist - Churen has performed at esteemed venues and music festivals internationally, building a new brand of classical music.
A classical trained pianist but Churen is also passionate about new music, having experimented increasingly with combining musical genres, such as Jazz, New age etc. Churen has lived, studied and performed in Europe as a concert pianist.
The concert pianist started mastering the instrument from age five; was just 19 years old when she pursued her master of music at Yale School of Music; She has been invited to perform recitals and chamber music at international festivals such as the Norfolk Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival, ISA Music Festival, as well as at concert series in the United States, Denmark, Italy, Wales, Ireland, England, Korea, Indonesia and Singapore.
Ms Churen continues to impress audiences with her musicality, poetry and charm. She was listed in 2018 on Singapore Tatler‘s Generation-T List, a celebration of “50 of the brightest connectors, creative visionaries, influential innovators and disruptive talents in Singapore”.
What keeps her going is her belief in faithfulness and fatefulness.
